BAY HEAD FIRE DEPARTMENT
OCEAN COUNTY STATION 14
ABOUT US & WHAT WE DO
The Bay Head Fire Department proudly serves the Borough of Bay Head, located on the Jersey Shore in northern Ocean County, New Jersey. Bay Head sits on the Barnegat Peninsula, also known as Barnegat Bay Island, a narrow barrier island that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Along with Mantoloking, Bay Head is part of the Jersey Shore’s “Gold Coast.”
Today, the Department operates one Engine, one 75-foot Quint, one Rescue, one High Water Rescue vehicle, and two Chief’s vehicles. Our members are trained in structural firefighting, water rescue, storm response, and mutual aid operations throughout the surrounding communities. The Department responds to approximately 200 to 250 calls each year, providing protection to residents, visitors, and neighboring towns when needed.
Established in 1913, the Bay Head Fire Department originally served several surrounding municipalities with limited equipment and a small but dedicated group of volunteers. From hand-pulled apparatus and early motorized engines to modern, specialized emergency vehicles and advanced training, our mission has remained the same: protecting life and property in our community.
Dedicated volunteers. Strong tradition.
Then and now.
